New York State is Going to the Far East

to Sell YOUR Products. Join Us!

Empire State Development (ESD) has a new program to help small and medium sized businesses export their goods and services.  The “Go East to Export New York, US!” (GEENYUS!) program will help businesses from across the state expand into the Chinese and other Far East markets.

With funding from the U.S. Small Business Administration’s State Trade and Export Promotion (STEP) program and matching funds from New York State, GEENYUS! is expected to help New York-based companies generate new export revenues and create/retain new jobs for New York State by assisting them with participation in selected trade shows and trade missions.

Participating businesses will be vetted for export readiness and market suitability. For the 2011-2012 program year, we are specifically targeting small businesses (as defined by SBA) as well as rural business and minority- and women-owned businesses in eight key industries.  Select partners have also been chosen to support each industry’s trade missions, reverse trade missions and events.

One More Way New York State is Open For Business

With help from public and private industry partners, ESD will help guide participants with issues  such as protection of intellectual property, trade finance, regulatory obstacles and other barriers to market entry.

The program will focus on the following areas of support:

  • Customized market assessments, research, translation of marketing materials and other promotional support;

  • Pre-event matchmaking to help participants identify potential partners in advance of trade shows/trade missions in order to maximize chances for success at the events; and

  • Reverse trade missions to bring foreign buyers to New York for additional matchmaking opportunities with overseas customers.

As a result of participation in this program, businesses will be better positioned to increase their sales internationally by identifying the best opportunities for marketing their products and services abroad.
