Belmont Park Redevelopment Study
In October 2008, Governor David A. Paterson charged
Empire State Development, and John Sabini, Chairman of the
New York State Racing and Wagering Board to work with
legislative leaders, Nassau County, the Town of Hempstead,
Queens Community Board 13, other Local Groups, and the New
York Racing Association (NYRA) to study redevelopment
options at Belmont Park. The report, submitted to the
Governor for the December 31, 2008 deadline, outlines
multiple development options for two parcels of land at
Belmont Park totaling 36 acres.
