Regional Technology Development Centers (RTDC)

Program Purpose
The Regional Technology Development Centers (RTDC) are located across New York State and provide direct assistance to New York companies in a variety of ways.

Through two state programs – the Technology Development Organization (TDO) Program and the Industrial Technology Extension Service (ITES) Program – and a complementary Federal program – the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), the RTDCs provide entrepreneurial and business assistance as well as financial, venture capital, and grant information to companies across our state. One of the strengths of the RTDC network is its affiliation with the US Department of Commerce’s MEP program which enables the RTDCs to draw upon the expertise within the national MEP system’s 400 local outreach centers.

The centers also play a key role in helping new and emerging businesses move a new technological breakthrough from the research lab to the marketplace as well as providing education and training, helping companies implement best practices and new technologies into their business processes, and providing business planning and quality control guidance. The centers' expertise helps New York's companies maintain their leadership roles in today's competitive business environments.

Program Highlights
As a network of 10 independent, not-for-profit organizations, Regional Technology Development Centers (RTDC) cultivate the growth of high-tech industry and help smaller manufacturers modernize. The organizations share a common commitment to providing direct, strategic assistance to companies in the areas of entrepreneurship, technology commercialization, product development, high-tech business incubator management and technology transfer services. Primarily through three programs — the Technology Development Organization (TDO) program, the Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) program, and the Industrial Technology Extension Service (ITES) program — RTDCs provide entrepreneurial and business assistance, financing and venture capital information, and Federal research grant information and assistance. RTDCs receive both Federal and State financial support. The RTDC’s are:
