Empire State Development Announces Grand Opening of Sullivan County Fabrication's 25,000 Square Foot Facility in the Mid-Hudson Region

High-Tech Metal Fabrication Plant Utilizing State-of-the-Art Processes will Build and Supply Metal Shelving for Convenience Stores and Supermarkets

Company Commits to Creating 35 New Jobs in the Region

Empire State Development (ESD) today announced the grand opening of Sullivan County Fabrication, a 25,000 square foot, steel shelving manufacturing and refabricating facility in the Village of Woodridge, located in Sullivan County in the Mid-Hudson Region.  Sullivan County Fabrication, along with its affiliates, Resnick Supermarket Equipment, and Supermarket Parts Warehouse will build affordable replacement shelving for supermarkets and convenience stores to supply the growing number of food service operators and food retailers as well as the growth of the average amount of floor space occupied by food retail outlets.  As a result, annual demand for supermarket steel shelving is projected to exceed $8 billion by 2025, most of which will be comprised by repair and replacement of equipment already in use.

Empire State Development President, CEO and Commissioner Howard Zemsky said, “This new venture reflects New York’s support of smart growth in manufacturing companies, helping them to create and retain jobs that benefit regional economies.”

Daniel “Butch” Resnick, President of Sullivan County Fabrication, Inc. and the Resnick Group family of Companies said, “Building this factory was crucial for us to keep our businesses sustainable. With the ability to build our own shelving, we are able to grow our businesses and create jobs and opportunity for our friends and neighbors, rather than purchasing them from outside our country.  With the help of New York State we are able to create jobs and remain competitive in our market place and grow our 40 year core businesses.  We are grateful to NYS ESD for all that was done to make sure this factory became a reality”

Sullivan County Fabrication has committed to investing more than $3 million in this project, while creating 35 new jobs and retaining 95 positions. ESD has agreed to support this project by providing up to $563,000 in performance-based Economic Development Fund grants and Excelsior Jobs Program tax credits. Additionally, Sullivan County Fabrication will receive a $1.8 million Jobs Development Authority Direct Loan for machinery and equipment costs.

Senator Jen Metzger said, “This is a welcome addition to the economy of the Mid-Hudson Region and Sullivan County. State and local investment and partnership continue to make a difference for long-term, regional revitalization.”

Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther said, “This project is outstanding for Sullivan County and the region. It ensures that the county’s manufacturing base will keep growing with new jobs and increased opportunities for the entire area.”

Luis Alvarez, Chairman of the Sullivan County Legislature Sullivan said, “We are proud to be the home of Sullivan County Fabrication and welcome the commitment to the community. I am very grateful for the partnership of Empire State Development, to help encourage this kind of private-sector growth that will have a positive impact for years to come."

Town of Fallsburg Supervisor Steven Vegliante said, "As Supervisor of the Town of Fallsburg and General Counsel to the Resnick Group, I am proud to be part of this exciting project. Sullivan County Fabrication, Inc. and the Resnick Group of companies are creating jobs, opportunities and investment in our Town and in our region.  This project is proof that New York State can compete with other places in manufacturing, and the support of New York State and our local IDA was crucial in this effort.  As Supervisor, and as General Counsel, I am grateful for the assistance and support in this endeavor, which will surely benefit our Town and County for years to come."
