Empire State Development Announces Plans for Metal Craft Spinning and Stamping to Establish U.S. Manufacturing Operations In Niagara Falls

Canadian Company Will Invest $1.3 Million to Establish Custom Fabrication Facility and Create up to 17 New Jobs in Western New York

Investment Helps Company Minimize Increased Costs Associated with Current Steel and Aluminum Tariffs Between Canada and the U.S.

Empire State Development (ESD) today announced that Canadian firm Metal Craft Spinning and Stamping Ltd. will establish U.S metal manufacturing operations in Niagara Falls. The company will utilize a 24,760-square-foot industrial facility located at 4120 Hyde Park Boulevard. The company expects to invest approximately $1.3 million in site renovations, equipment, and installation.

"Thanks to Governor Hochul and Empire State Development, we’ve created a welcoming environment for companies looking to expand operations, mitigate risk, and seize new opportunities-while also building on the region’s long-standing reputation as a hub for manufacturing,” said ESD President, CEO & Commissioner Hope Knight. “New York State welcomes Metal Craft and all Canadian companies as they navigate the critical challenges that have been created by tariff-related cost increases. We hope that they find new market opportunities, lower costs, and strengthened relationships with U.S. customers.”

Metal Craft Spinning and Stamping is a fourth generation, family owned, manufacturer based in Etobicoke, Ontario. It’s been in the custom metal fabrication industry since 1969, specializing in metal spinning, that allows the formation of shapes and geometries to create smooth, weld-free objects. Its custom designs are used in many building systems, including roofing, commercial lighting and HVAC.

Metal Craft is the largest metal spinning shop in Canada, with 70% of its customer base in the U.S.   The current steel and aluminum tariffs between Canada and the United States have created significant cost pressures and logistical challenges that impact both the company’s business and its American customers. Establishing a U.S. location in Western New York is not just a strategic business move—it will also help protect their customers from rising costs, maintain their company’s competitiveness, and allow it to continue delivering a high-quality reliable product.

Metal Craft reports the new tariffs have directly increased its material and production costs, while reducing its ability to remain price-competitive in the U.S. market. The strategic expansion into the U.S will secure long-term growth and stability, allowing the company to:

  • Eliminate tariff-related costs and protect margins,
  • Improve logistics and reduce lead times for U.S. customers,
  • Strengthen relationships with existing partners and open new market opportunities, and
  • Preserve and create manufacturing jobs on both sides of the border.

The project involves planning, designing, and constructing a fully equipped metal manufacturing facility that will house advanced CNC machining equipment and supporting infrastructure. Key activities include facility setup, equipment installation, workforce hiring, and employee training in CNC operation, forklift safety, and First Aid/CPR.

“Our expansion into Niagara Falls, New York marks an important step for Metal Craft as we bring over 60 years of manufacturing experience to the area,” said Brian Rasksen, Metal Craft President. “Establishing a local presence allows us to invest directly in the region by creating skilled manufacturing jobs, supporting local suppliers, and contributing to the long-term growth of the Niagara Falls industrial community. We’re excited for the future of North American manufacturing.”

Empire State Development will assist the project with up to $134,000 in tax credits through the Excelsior Jobs Program, to be granted based on actual job creation. Metal Craft expects to create approximately 17 skilled jobs in the region. With the assistance of CBRE Upstate, the facility on Hyde Park Boulevard in Niagara Falls was identified and a lease signed. Metal Craft is actively hiring a local workforce and operation setup is underway.

Matthew Hubacher, Senior Vice President at Invest Buffalo Niagara said, “Metal Craft Spinning’s decision to establish a U.S. foothold in Buffalo Niagara is another strong signal of the region’s growing appeal to Canadian manufacturers looking to expand their reach and strengthen their supply chains. With a strategic location, developed industrial infrastructure, and an operating cost environment, Buffalo Niagara continues to offer the conditions companies need to scale efficiently and serve the U.S. market with confidence. We were pleased to support this project through coordination of state incentives and key regional introductions that help ensure a smooth landing and long-term success.”

Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino said, “Any announcement of a new company that is bringing new jobs to Niagara Falls is cause for celebration and even more so when they are manufacturing jobs which tend to be family sustaining jobs and provide a tangible economic impact to our city and region. We appreciate the continued support from the Governor and Empire State Development and their investments in Niagara Falls and welcome Metal Craft Spinning and Stamping to our community. My door is open to assist the company in any way we can.”
