Empire State Development Announces the Expansion of STI-CO Industries in Orchard Park

Company to Add 10 New Full-Time Jobs and Maintain 41 Current Employees

Empire State Development (ESD) today announced the expansion of STI-CO Industries in Orchard Park.  The telecommunications company specializes in designing and manufacturing custom, high-performance antenna systems for military, public safety, transit agencies and others. STI-CO is investing $2.5 million for a 25,000-square-foot building, which will allow it to expand and hire 10 new, full-time permanent employees and retain 41 existing, full-time permanent employees.

“As we build back from the pandemic, our strategic investments in innovative companies are critical to re-energizing New York State’s economy and workforce," said Hope Knight, Empire State Development Acting Commissioner and President & CEO-designate. “I commend STI-CO Industries for choosing to grow its operation in Western New York, where manufacturing has such a rich history and has been a staple in the region’s economy for decades.”

STI-CO Industries specializes in designing and manufacturing mission critical antenna systems to keep police, fire and logistics teams safe and securely connected. The company is anticipating sales growth of 65% from 2021 to 2025, as it works to serve the needs of the military and transportation industries. To meet its strategic sales targets, STI-CO will purchase a 25,000-square-foot building to replace its current 14,500-square-foot facility, as well as make investments in building renovation costs and equipment purchases. To encourage this investment, ESD is providing STI-CO industries up to $105,000 in New York State Excelsior Jobs Tax Credits in exchange for creating 10 new jobs.

STI-CO President Kyle Swiat said, “This investment reflects the strength of our existing business, the quality of our employees, and our commitment to Western New York. I’d like to thank Empire State Development for providing the support needed to enable us to grow.”

The building, which is now a warehouse located at 15 Cobham Drive in Orchard Park, will be converted into office space, manufacturing, and research and development areas. The renovated facility will be used to manufacture specialized antenna systems and related components. The project is expected to be completed in February 2022.

Senator Sean Ryan said, “In order grow our state’s economy and create more good-paying jobs, it is important that businesses continue to identify New York as a great place to call home. The Excelsior Jobs Program was devised to attract companies like STI-CO and help them to expand their operations, and I am thrilled to see the program is delivering for Orchard Park. STI-CO’s commitment to Western New York is great news, and I thank them for being a part of our region’s economic future.”

Assemblyman Pat Burke said, “I am glad to see further economic investment in our Orchard Park community. I applaud STI-CO Industries for choosing to expand its operation in our region, as investments such as these will help advance our economic bounce-back from the pandemic.”

County Executive Mark Poloncarz said, “STI-CO Industries is creating new jobs and retaining existing ones in this expansion, investing in our workforce and showing that Erie County is a great place for telecommunications business. Our economic sector continues to grow and diversify, which is good news for the entire county.”
