Thanks to Governor Kathy Hochul’s leadership, Upstate New York has seen a major revival in manufacturing. This announcement further supports her efforts and commitment to growing New York’s manufacturing sector, which has long served as a major employer for the state and a critical path to good-paying, middle-class jobs. New York is home to nearly 14,000 manufacturing operations. More than 420,000 New Yorkers work in this sector and since Governor Hochul took office in August 2021, employment in manufacturing increased by 12,200 in New York State. Manufacturing contributed more than $95 billion to New York’s gross domestic product and is responsible for approximately $85 billion in exports per year.
