Investments Complement "Finger Lakes Forward" - The Region's Comprehensive Strategy to Revitalize Communities and Grow the Economy

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that Datto, Inc. has officially expanded its office space inside of The Metropolitan—the former Chase Tower—in Rochester's Downtown Innovation Zone. Having outgrown its first location at the Rochester Institute of Technology's Downtown Center for Entrepreneurship, all of Datto's 225 Rochester employees are now working at the new location. In 2017, Governor Cuomo announced Datto's $5.25 million expansion, which will soon lead to at least 350 high-tech jobs at its new site, supported by New York State with a $2.1 million Finger Lakes Forward Upstate Revitalization Initiative Grant and other tax incentives. The Governor also announced a new $25 million Finger Lakes Forward Venture Capital Fund to provide early stage capital investments for startup companies in key high-tech industries.

"Datto's growth in Rochester is a major step forward in our work to transform the Finger Lakes region into one of the nation's leading high-tech innovation hubs," Governor Cuomo said. "With our ongoing investment in this innovative company and the addition of the Finger Lakes Forward Venture Capital Fund, we will further bolster the Rochester Downtown Innovation Zone and continue to move the larger Finger Lakes economy forward."

Founded in 2007 by RIT graduate Austin McChord, Datto is now a global leader in backup and disaster recovery services and business management. Datto has 22 offices and more than 1,400 employees worldwide, including those at its headquarters in Norwalk, Connecticut.
