“Empire State Development is saddened to hear of the passing of Mohawk Valley EDGE President Steve DiMeo, who, for decades, was a leader and advocate for regional economic growth, and an even better partner and friend. Steve was a testament to the fact that one person can make a very big difference. While few successes are achieved alone, some are not possible without certain individuals, and Steve was that person for the Mohawk Valley.

Steve was the driving force behind so much of the economic activity in his region, from developing the Marcy Nanocenter Campus, which attracted Wolfspeed and helped set the stage for New York’s semiconductor industry successes, to transforming the decommissioned Griffiss Air Force Base from a massive community loss to a job creator. We offer our sincere condolences to Steve’s family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.”
