USA Niagara Development Corporation to Hold Public Information Meeting

Open House on Final Design of Parkway Removal Project

USA Niagara Development Corporation, in cooperation with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, the New York State Department of Transportation, the New York Power Authority, and the City of Niagara Falls, will hold a public information meeting to present the status of the final design for the Parkway North Removal Project, which runs from Main Street to Findlay Drive in Niagara Falls, NY.  The meeting will take place on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 6:00p.m. at the Conference & Events Center Niagara Falls, 101 Old Falls Street.

The major components of the Project include removal of roughly two miles of the expressway features of the Niagara Scenic (formerly Robert Moses) Parkway from downtown Niagara Falls to Whirlpool State/DeVeaux Woods State Park; installation of a trail network on lands reclaimed from the Parkway removal; and reconstruction of Whirlpool Street and a portion of Third Street.  The environmental review for the project has been completed and approval of its preliminary design was authorized by the Federal Highway Administration on February 23, 2017.  The project is now in its final design phase. Project construction is scheduled to begin in late spring of 2018.

The format of the meeting will begin with a short welcome and orientation presentation, followed by an open house for the public to review the progress plans and renderings developed to date, ask questions, and to provide input.  Staff will be on hand to explain the project, answer questions and receive comments from the public.
