Growth in New York State’s Tourism Industry is Record Breaking

With 11 geographically diverse regions, New York’s world-class tourism industry is ready to welcome, host and support all the visitors who come to enjoy the beauty and wonder of our great state. New York’s tourism businesses become both visitor destinations and economic drivers in an array of dynamic settings, from awe-inspiring city lights to Adirondack high peaks, Finger Lakes wine trails, and the mist of Niagara Falls. With a record-high 252.7 million visitors in 2018, generating an economic impact of $114.8 billion - the fifth-straight year at $100+ billion - tourism is the state’s third-largest employer.

New York State has invested in major tourism infrastructure projects, including expanding access and creating new amenities at LaGuardia Airport, supporting renovation of the historic Hotel Saranac in the Adirondacks and constructing a new state-of-the-art hotel at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
