Has your NYS MWBE certification expired or expiring soon?
Are you seeking recertification with NYS?

If you have never been certified by New York State, Click here
If you answered yes to the questions above, there are 2 things you need to know:
  1. Since you became certified or since you last re-certified...the requirements for certification have changed.
  2. For all expiring/expired firms as well as all currently certified firms...An account has been created for your firm, and you will need to log in.

New Requirements: Business Diversification Act of 2010

On July 15, 2010 New York State passed the Business Diversification Act. Out of this legislation, new Rules and Regulations were created and took effect on December 22, 2010, which now require the Division of Minority and Women Business Development to request and review additional documentation to determine eligibility.
Personal Net Worth Restriction Small Business Restriction

 

Personal Net Worth Restriction
All minorities or women upon whom certification is based, cannot have a personal net worth exceeding $3.5 Million after allowable deductions.

Do not include the following in your Personal Net Worth Calculations:
  • Your primary residence or the mortgage for that residence.
  • Your ownership interest in the applicant firm.
  • Up to $500 thousand of present cash value of any qualified retirement savings plan, or individual retirement account held by the individual less any penalties for early withdrawal.
     
Mandatory Supporting Documents:
(for each minority or woman owner upon which certification is based)
  1. Current Personal Federal and State Taxes
    (including all schedules, statements and amendments)
  2. Attachment A: Personal Net Worth Affidavit*
    (signed, notarized and dated)
Worksheets and Instructions:
  1. Attachment B: Auto Calculation Net Worth Worksheet
    * Use Attachment B to determine your personal net worth. ,Attachment B is required for all individuals with a PNW over $1.3 Million. This document may be requested during the review process by the analyst.

Small Business Restriction
Firms must have no more than 300 Full Time Equivalent Employees
